10:48 am - ATTN: students with a .edu email address

Amazon is offering a free 1 year subscription to Amazon Prime (Which usually costs $79 a year. Perks include free 2 day shipping, and $3.99 overnight shipping): http://amzn.to/bSH8jP (url shortened with bit.ly)

This is being marketed towards college students but all you need is a valid .edu email address, so teachers and alumni might be able to benefit from this too (though the Terms of Service does say they have the right to ask for proof that you are a current student).

I apologize if you have already heard about this amazing deal. I just want to help spread the word on this before they stop offering it. I am not an employee of Amazon, nor do I gain anything from people signing up for this service.

7:48 pm - VandalWeb Help

Once upon a time, one could click a magical link and find out what position in a waiting list they were in.

Has that link gone away, or can I just not find it?

9:57 am - Make $50 bucks!

Hi there! Does anyone want to make $50 for doing me a super easy favor?

I'm moving to Moscow/Pullman this fall to start an MFA program at University of Idaho, and I'm trying to find an apartment. I found an apartment I like, but unfortunately, they won't rent to me unless I come see the apartment in person. PROBLEM: I'm on the east coast right now, and really can't afford to fly out to Pullman just to check out an apartment.

Okay, so the rental company said I don't have to come in person, I can just have a proxy drop by and check it out for me. That's where you come in!

BE MY PROXY. All you have to do is call the rental company and set up an appointment in the next week or so to check out the place. Then show up, give a quick look around, and send me an email. Done! Then I can send you $50, either by paypal or I can mail you a check if you prefer, or buy you stuff off your amazon wishlist, whatever...

this is the place: http://pullman.craigslist.org/apa/1180649278.html

Please please please comment or email me at lapetiteamericaine AT gmail and help me out with this problem -- I am desperate and really want this apartment!

8:50 pm - Tell us what you want!

Cowgirl Cup Espresso (the coffee stand located across the street from Tristate outfitters) is looking for more options to serve Moscow students. We've been toying with the idea of providing breakfast foods, like croissants, scones, or simple breakfast sandwiches. Drip coffee hasn't been available in the past, but will soon be offered due to popular demand. What else can we do for people here in Moscow?

Suggestions don't have to be limited to edible items; we're interested in any way we can make our stand more appealing to customers.

*note: I am a student at the U of I, by the way, just employed at the coffee stand in question and trying to help my boss out with info :)

7:36 pm - horsemen and horsewomen

So I am trying to find a boarding facility with an arena, some where around here (Pullman, Moscow, Palouse, Albion) and am looking at a cost of no more than 350/month.

I thought this might be a good place to start. So if anyone knows of anything let me know! Because I miss my pony =(

8:38 am - Snow Day!

From the website, if you didn't get an email:

UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO CLOSED due to inclement weather

MOSCOW, Idaho--The University of Idaho’s Moscow campus is closed for business today, Thursday January 31, 2008, due to severe inclement weather. All classes and non-academic activities are cancelled, and offices are closed.

Essential personnel only will make every effort to report to work for critical operations and life-safety activities. If travel conditions are so severe that an essential employee cannot safely get to campus, employees should notify their supervisor immediately.

Please do not bring vehicles to campus, as our facilities team needs full access to the roadways and parking lots. Employees who have already reported to work are asked to leave.

The campus community should watch email or the University’s home page (www.uidaho.edu) for updates.

Today’s leave is administrative leave with pay.

For help in an emergency, contact Moscow Police Department at 208/882-COPS.

2:08 pm - Hello

I am posting here in an effort to gauge my chances of receiving a scholarship waiving out of state tuition from University of Idaho. My qualifications for the scholarship are 34 credits to transfer in and a gpa of 3.86. I don't think service is part of the equation but I have two americorps service terms. According to the Fafsa, I have little need for financial aid. My living situation says otherwise. Anyway, if you or someone you know has received scholarships as an out-of-state transfer student let me know.

10:20 pm - Snowday?

If campus is closed, what media would they use to alert the students? Email, probably, but when would it come out? Pre-7am? Cuz I am so not leaving the house in this weather if I don't have to...

10:49 am - Are you a US citizen?

Could you pass 10 questions that are on the real US citizenship test? I took AP US history 5 years ago, so it was easy, but most people born in the US don't take AP classes. Now in college I took this little quiz and still got it right. It actually seems more like "Are you smarter than a 5th grader?" in difficulty. Anyways, try it out and post your score:

I got a 10.  12 on the new one that seems to have appeared. either way it's 100%

Did anyone happen to see that huge blue and white streak shoot across the northwestern hemisphere late last night? My boyfriend says it was a meteor, but I'd never seen one before, so I don't know. So far no one else we know saw it.

In other news, the sky was gorgeous last night! In the next few nights, if it's clear, I recommend going to a place with few lights and checking out the milky way...

3:59 pm - bookies!

Hey kids, I hope you guys are getting ready for the next semseter. I just had a wondering, and figured I'd ask: I went to the UI bookstore website to look at what books I needed... none of my classes are part of the list, but I know at least one of them has to have a book for it. If anyone's in these classes, and knows if we have a book, please let me know!

8:43 am - Save the Wilderness

There has been a request to overturn the 2001 Roadless Rule that protects 9.3 million acres of untouched (well, as untouched as it gets these days--no roads, trails, etc. Just the occasional research center) Idaho wilderness. I don't know what kind of sneaky things people are up to (possibly wanting to log and mine the area), but overturning the rule is just bad. There's a petition if anyone is interested.

1:22 pm - Another murder update....

The suspect in the murder of David Robert Boss has a history of mental instability and violence, police records have revealed.
John Joseph Delling, 21, was arrested twice in 2005 on one felony count of domestic battery and assault and a misdemeanor count of stalking.

According to a police report, Delling supposedly visited Boss at his parent’s Boise home during the 2006 Christmas break. Following the meeting, Boss allegedly commented he was concerned for Delling’s mental state and said he was acting irrational and was delusional.
Three weeks prior to Boss’ murder during a meeting with his brother, also a UI student, Delling asked, “Do you think David is the one stealing my powers?” Delling’s brother said this was not the first time Delling mentioned someone stealing his power or aura.
